Turkish Meat and Chickpea Stew Recipe (Etli Nohut Yemeği)

Directions

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are translucent. Add the diced meat and cook until browned on all sides. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 5 minutes until the tomatoes are soft. Add the soaked chickpeas and enough water to cover the mixture. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the chickpeas are tender and the meat is cooked through. If needed, add more water during cooking. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
