Gullac Recipe (Güllaç)

Ingredients
- 10 sheets of güllaç
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- 1 cup crushed walnuts or pistachios
- 1/4 cup grated coconut (optional)
In a saucepan, heat the milk and dissolve the sugar in it. Once it is warm, remove it from heat and add the rose water. In a large serving dish, layer the güllaç leaves, soaking each leaf in the milk mixture for a few seconds. Repeat until you have several layers, usually about 5-6. After layering, sprinkle crushed nuts between some layers and on top. Allow the güllaç to cool in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving. Cut into squares and garnish with additional nuts if desired.
